Arm Development Program

Chicago Chicago Cubs Minor League Pitching Coordinator - Jim Brower

Chicago Chicago Cubs Minor League Pitching Coordinator - Jim Brower

• ADP is 100% arm strengthening and mechanical refinement
• Designed for BOTH pitchers and position players, all levels
• Rigorous strengthening routine
• Uses signature “ground to release” mechanical progression
• Drills designed to increase athleticism and explosive movement
• Throwing is intensive

ADP is designed for BOTH pitchers and position players. Time is spent strengthening the arm with a routine they will again repeat at home. Weekly drills focus on proper throwing mechanics and explosive movement. It is structured to be throwing intensive and follows Coach Brower’s “Ground to Release” approach. Brower Baseball understands a player’s arm is their #1 tool. Quality throwing mechanics will help maintain a healthy arm which in turn allows arm strength, accuracy and velocity to improve, a goal for every player. Players are allowed the time and repetitions needed to “learn their arm” and to establish quality throwing mechanics and habits. Ultimately this lays an important foundation for preparing for the upcoming season and leads to a better baseball experience because you are playing and not recovering. "Ground to Release" is an approach to throwing used in all Brower Baseball development programs. It is a mechanical progression and incorporates a dynamic strengthening routine, stretching and drills specific to that session’s focus. Jim Brower created and successfully used this approach in his preparation for Spring Training throughout his 17-year professional playing career. Today as a professional pitching coach, he continues to find these principles relevant and beneficial in curriculum and methodology for both his amateur and professional players. Education is a core value and building block in all of Brower Baseball's programs. Without this vital foundation, players are merely following a physical routine.

Pitching Development Program

• PDP is a blend of arm strengthening, mechanical refinement and pitching
• Designed for pitchers, all levels
• Rigorous strengthening routine
• Uses signature “ground to release” mechanical progression
• Incorporates flat ground work, off-speed and pitching specific drills
• Throwing is moderate to intensive

PDP incorporates the main principles taught in ADP, including Coach Brower’s “Ground to Release” approach, but has an altered throwing progression customized specifically for pitchers.  Time is spent strengthening the arm with a routine they will again repeat at home. PDP is not as throwing intensive as the ADP because it incorporates flat ground work, off-speed and pitching specific drills.  Brower Baseball understands a pitcher’s arm is their #1 tool. Quality throwing mechanics will help maintain a healthy arm which in turn allows arm strength, accuracy and velocity to improve, a goal for every player. Pitchers are allowed the time and repetitions needed to “learn their arm” and to establish quality throwing mechanics and habits. ACE Program

unnamed.jpg

ACE is Brower Baseball's premier pitching program.  It is a unique and dynamic pitching experience for pitchers looking to take their game to the next level.  Set up as a small group environment, it is designed to challenge pitchers both physically and mentally.  The program will solidify mechanics, refine pitches and foremost, educate.

ACE entails extensive mechanical work.  Time will be spent on fast ball command, establishing a change-up and laying the foundation for using a third pitch.  Other work will include establishing a pre and in-game routine, swing recognition, pick-offs, pitch selection, pitch sequences, etc.  Be prepared for homework and to be tested.

Educating pitchers is a priority of Brower Baseball.  ACE will improve a pitcher's "Pitching IQ"... the foundation every pitcher’s mental game is built upon.  When on the mound in a game situation, a pitcher must rely on instinct to make quality decisions under pressure.  ACE students will gain a better understanding of the game and themselves as pitchers.  Over time this base of knowledge will become second nature in a game setting.  Learning the "art of pitching" gives pitchers the ability to slow the game down, access that knowledge automatically, know and trust one's mechanics and make pitch to pitch adjustments which is what propels a pitcher to the next level.  It’s a game changer.

"I don’t want you to just do what I say, I want you to understand why you are doing it... then apply it and repeat it."  -Coach Brower

*This is a specialized pitching program and although there are elements of arm strengthening, it is NOT a main focus.  Arm strength is vital for health and success on the mound.  It is an absolute necessity that you follow through with an arm conditioning routine either on your own or through one of BrowerBaseball's other arm strengthening programs (ADP or PDP) during the course of these 12 weeks.  If you choose to supplement with an ADP or PDP... please schedule at least 1 day in between programs.
